Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren't my notifications working?
Make sure you've granted Bell Times permission to send notifications in your device Settings. Also check that Do Not Disturb isn't blocking alerts, and that Background App Refresh is enabled for Bell Times.
Can I use Bell Times on multiple devices?
Yes. Each device needs the app installed separately. Your timetables are stored locally on each device, so you'll need to set them up on each iPhone or iPad you use.
How do I add a new school?
Tap the + button on the school list screen, then enter the school name and add your bell times. You can switch between Alert Times (single bell) and Time Blocks (start/end) depending on how your school runs the day.
What's the difference between Alert Times and Time Blocks?
Alert Times mode is for single bell alerts (e.g. start of school, recess, lunch). Time Blocks mode lets you set start and end times for each period, useful for full class schedules with multiple periods.
Can I customise the alert sounds?
Yes. Bell Times offers several built-in sounds, and you can enable haptics and a visual flash. Customise these in the school settings when editing a timetable.
Does Bell Times work when the app is closed?
Yes. Notifications will fire even when the app is in the background or your device is locked, as long as you've granted notification permission and Background App Refresh is enabled.
